Laboratory Orchestra Fellowships

The Conducting Institute Laboratory Orchestra is a learning ensemble for conductors and orchestra musicians who participate in The Institute’s workshops.

Podium time in front of a live ensemble is a key component of the knowledge and skills conductors need to become self-sufficient, prepared musical leaders. In addition to providing a service to participating conductors, Lab Orchestra Fellowships present an opportunity for orchestra musicians to work in an intense, professionally oriented environment and expand their deep knowledge of select orchestral repertoire.

If selected for the Lab Orchestra Fellowship, it is the expectation that Fellows come to sessions with repertoire fully learned.

Stipend Structure
Conducting Institute Laboratory Orchestra Fellows will be provided with a stipend based on a rate of $25.00 per hour.

Orchestra Fellows are responsible for personal transportation to and from Fort Worth, Texas and Orchestral Hall, personal housing accommodation, and all meals.

Auditions

First-time applicants will be asked to provide the following:

  • Solo work of applicant’s choice (no longer than 10 minutes), preferably without piano or other accompaniment.

  • Short orchestral excerpts, found at this link

  • Audition video should be shared via file sharing service link (YouTube, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) (both applicant and instrument should be in full view of frame)

Returning members

Choose one from the following list

  • Applicants will be contact on May 15th with the first round of results.

  • Second round of results (on an ongoing basis after May 15 - a list of instruments will be publish)
